            <title>Petrol, diesel prices up by 11 &amp; 9 paisa each</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>New Delhi, SEPT 8 (AGENCIES):Petrol and diesel prices are up again from Wednesday, by 11 and 9 paise respectively. The increase is due to a hike in the commission paid to petrol pump dealers. In Delhi, petrol prices will rise by 11 paise to Rs 51.56 a litre, while diesel will be costlier by 9 paise at Rs 37.71 per litre. The hike has been implemented since Tuesday midnight.<br />
Petrol and diesel prices in the country will rise marginally from midnight Wednesday, following the government's decision to raise the commission paid to petrol pump dealers. The increase in petrol prices across the country is in the range of 11 to 12 paisa per litre, while diesel will be around 9 to 10 paisa per litre more expensive.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>New Delhi, SepT 8 (IANS/PTI): Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday evening amidst indications that the government will announce an Eid package to restore peace in the troubled valley. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) will, meanwhile, meet Thursday to review the situation in the violence-hit state.<br />
&ldquo;The PM had a one-on-one discussion with Omar Abdullah on the situation in the (Kashmir) valley,&rdquo; an official in the Prime Minister&rsquo;s Office (PMO) told IANS. The Manmohan Singh-Abdullah meeting, held at 7 Race Course Road -- the official residence of the prime minister, lasted half-an-hour, sources said. Later, Abdullah joined the Iftar party hosted by Manmohan Singh. Abdullah did not speak to the media after his meeting with the prime minister.</p>]]></description>

This was known when experts in diverse field tried to make a tentative list of around 100 natural heritage sites of the state for documentation and subsequent recommendation on the national and world heritage sites during the Indian National Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), Manipur Chapter, sponsored 4-day workshop on listing and documentation of natural heritage of Manipur which concluded today.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): The National Commission for Minorities on Tuesday summoned the chief secretary of Manipur DS Poonia before the commission for Manipur government&rsquo;s failure to take up the case of the attack on Chingmeirong church on December 14, 2008. In Manipur, many village authorities in many villages still segregate Meitei Christians, Rongmei Christians and Nepali Christians away from the village communities.<br />
The commission served a 15-day notice to Manipur government to submit the charge-sheet, it was informed today. The All India Christian Council (AICC) submitted a fact-finding report to the minorities&rsquo; commission and the government of Manipur.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Ukhrul dist hospital needs attention</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>UKHRUL | September 8 : Thanks for the Government of Manipur for having an Ukhrul District Hospital inaugurated 1976 that exists just in &ldquo;snap-shot&rdquo; and at the present it is in pathetic condition. The pitiable hospital caters the need of more than 140000 people.<br />
It is been reported that the hospital runs without &ldquo;power supply&rdquo; besides the acute shortage of doctors and other medical practitioners mostly required in a hospital. The Ukhrul District Hospital has 50 beds since the time of its establishment.<br />
The condition of the hospital came to light when a group of media persons and the Ukhrul District Journalists&rsquo; Association (UDJA) interacted with the reliable officials as &ldquo;whistle blowers&rdquo; in the Department recently in condition of anonymity.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Abducted brick kiln owner found dead</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>DIMAPUR, SEP 8: The highly decomposed body of Shyam Singh, owner of brick kiln Kishan Bricks, Ittabata, abducted six months ago on February 15 by unidentified miscreants was recovered on September 7 at Lontibok Bora Bosti forest area under Karbi Anglong district of Assam.<br />
The body was recovered based on a statement given by an accused, identified as Chotu alias Jatin Basumatary of Longtibok Boro Bosti, who was arrested on the same day, Tuesday Sept 7, during a joint raid carried out by Dimapur Police led by SI Jenmai Konyak and Assam Police. The accused is also stated to have revealed that the victim was killed in the month March while also disclosing that members of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) are also involved in the abduction and killing of Shyam Singh.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>DIMAPUR, SEPT 8 (NPN):Highlighting the &ldquo;genuine plight&rdquo; of all commuters at the Dimapur Railway Station, the Naga Council (NC) Wednesday forwarded a 9-point memorandum to the general manager Northeast Frontier Railways, Maligaon Assam through the station superintendent, Dimapur Railway Station appealing for more amenities which it said deserved prompt attention.<br />
The Naga Council welcomed the newly created Passenger Reservation section but pointed out that there was not a single enquiry counter at the complex causing inconvenience to public as the staff operating the counters meant for issuing tickets was under obligation to cater to countless queries from commuters. Stating that every passenger/commuter has the right to be informed, the Council requested for a separate enquiry counter at the earliest possible.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>GAINESVILLE/WASHINGTON, SEPT 8 (AGENCIES): A Christian minister vowed Tuesday to go ahead with plans to burn copies of the Quran to protest the Sept 11 terrorist attacks despite warnings from the White House and the top US general in Afghanistan that he would endanger American troops overseas.<br />
Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center, which has about 50 members, said he understands the government&rsquo;s concerns but plans to go forward with the burning Saturday to mark the ninth anniversary of the attacks.<br />
He left the door open to change his mind, saying he is still praying about his decision, which was condemned Tuesday by an interfaith coalition that met in Washington to respond to a spike in anti-Muslim bigotry.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>DIMAPUR, SEPT 7 (NPN):The GPRN/NSCN and NNC/FGN Tuesday accused the NSCN (I-M) of threatening the Covenant of Reconciliation (COR) which was a symbolic acceptance of the fact that Naga political issue required a common approach.<br />
MIP, GPRN/NSCN &amp; Rali Wali, NNC/FGN in a joint press statement said it was &ldquo;extremely unfortunate to witness the too frequent anti reconciliatory actions perpetrated by Hebron campers&rdquo; while Naga people under the aegis of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) were earnestly pursuing the Reconciliation of all Naga political groups. It cited three instances that were indicative of the points that the NSCN (I-M) was threatening the Covenant of Reconciliation.</p>]]></description>

However, no specific decision was arrived at during the meeting. The ice-breaking meet was initiated by the NSCN (I-M) Sumi national workers.</p>]]></description>
