News: GPRN & FGN accuse NSCN (I-M)
|
DIMAPUR, SEPT 7 (NPN):The GPRN/NSCN and NNC/FGN Tuesday accused the NSCN (I-M) of threatening the Covenant of Reconciliation (COR) which was a symbolic acceptance of the fact that Naga political issue required a common approach.
MIP, GPRN/NSCN & Rali Wali, NNC/FGN in a joint press statement said it was “extremely unfortunate to witness the too frequent anti reconciliatory actions perpetrated by Hebron campers” while Naga people under the aegis of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) were earnestly pursuing the Reconciliation of all Naga political groups. It cited three instances that were indicative of the points that the NSCN (I-M) was threatening the Covenant of Reconciliation.

News: Sumis from NSCN (I-M), apex Sumi orgs meet
|
DIMAPUR, SEPT 7 (NPN):Three years after the relations between the NSCN (I-M) Sumi national workers and Sumi public was severed following excommunication of prominent Sumi members from the NSCN (I-M) by the Sumi Hoho for not complying with a resolution passed by the Sumi public in 2007, a meeting was held on Tuesday between the two sides at Kiyeto village where they exchanged views on the issue. However, no specific decision was arrived at during the meeting. The ice-breaking meet was initiated by the NSCN (I-M) Sumi national workers.

News: Ceasefire Day observed

KOHIMA, SEP 6 (NPN):September 6, 1964 was chosen for the inauguration of the ceasefire and it marked the end of one era and the beginning of another, Nagaland peace centre chairman N Theyo said during the thanksgiving service to commemorate the 47th Ceasefire Day at the NPC office here today.
Terming the day as a “red letter day” in the history of Nagaland, Theyo recalled that public meeting and special services were held in the Church to welcome and support the peace move throughout Nagaland when the ceasefire was signed in 1964. Recalling the chronology of event after the ceasefire, he said that the peace achieved on September 6, 1964 was a real peace, which was also a legacy of late Jay Prakash Narayan, who established the Peace Centre of Nagaland.

News: Co-accused of conman Abu Sayed arrested
|
DIMAPUR, SEP 6: Another co-accused of conman Abu Sayed, identified as Zakir Hussian s/o MD Asraf Ali, was arrested by Guwahati Police on August 30 from Lakhimpur, Assam and was brought to Dimapur on September 5 by East Police official led by SI Mhabeni and ASI MC Rutsa.
OC East Atu Zumvu told reporters today that the accused Zakir Hussian has confessed to having cheated at least 40 people from Nagaland and has been produced to CGM court today whereby he has been remanded by police for ten days.

News: CFMG meet dwells on Namsa
|
DIMAPUR, SEP 6: An emergency ceasefire ground rules implementation assessment meeting between the NSCN-IM and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)was held today at NAPTC, Chumukedima, which dwelt mainly on the August 26 Namsa incident in Mon wherein one NSCN Major was shot dead by the 6 Assam Rifles.
Chairman of the Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) Lt General (Retd) Mandhata Singh was not present at the meeting as he is on leave. However, the MHA was represented by Dr MC Mehanathan, Director North-East, Ministry of Home Affairs.

News: Naga group leaders to meet soon
|
DIMAPUR, SEPT 6 (NPN): A meeting of the highest level leaders of the Naga political groups which is being planned under the initiative of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, for the consummation of the Naga reconciliation process, is likely to be held in the month of September. Both the NSCN (I-M) and GPRN/NSCN have said they were looking forward to the meeting.
Speaking to Nagaland Post over phone, FNR convener, Rev. Dr. Wati Aier said the meeting of the top level leadership would most probably be held in the month of September as their meeting was of utmost urgency at this hour. Without specifying the location, he said that the meeting be held within Naga areas.

News: 3 policemen caught extorting
|
DIMAPUR, SEP 5 (NPN):Jotsoma Youth Organization (JYO) has apprehended three police personnel who were allegedly extorting money from stranded vehicles under Jotsoma village jurisdiction along NH-39 on Sunday at around 2 a.m.
According to JYO president Vilhubilie Peseyie and secretary Kereingukho Rino, the three policemen were apprehended by JYO volunteers keeping vigil along the highway after receiving reports that certain amounts of money were being collected from vehicles plying Jotsoma By-Pass road.
The culprits have been identified as D. Khape of Khezhakeno village, Sukio Lotha of Pongidong village and Temsu of Mongseyimte village.

This imposter is doing this business at his own risk and the NNC is not responsible for any thing in this matter,” the information & publicity wing, NNC said. News: FNR reiterates call
|
DIMAPUR, SEPT 5 (NPN): Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has once again requested all Christian organizations and their Churches and prayer centers to mark September 12 and take a moment of prayer time in their respective worship/mass/vesper services, for consummation the Naga Reconciliation.
Since its birth in February 2008, FNR said the mandate of the Naga people has been to call with urgency for a “meeting of the highest level leaders, at the earliest” and was resolved at the Sumi Baptist Church, Dimapur, on September 25, 2008, by 47 organizations, followed by the “Naga Peace Convention”, at Kohima local Ground, February 22, 2009, attested by 45 organizations and also at Saramati Hotel, Dimapur, August 25, 2009, reaffirmed by 46 organizations.

News: NSCN (I-M) man held
|
SHILLONG, SEPT 4:Acting on specific information, troops of 10 Bn BSF deployed in Golaghat district of Assam launched a special operation and apprehended an NSCN (I-M) arms dealer while he was disembarking from Lumding Tinsukia passenger train at Barpathar Railway station The apprehended was identified as Nick Sumi, (21 yrs), son of Toshiho Sumi, a resident of Supply Colony, PWD, Dimapur. One 9mm pistol, one magazine and three live rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession. During preliminary interrogation, the activist confessed to working for NSCN (I-M) as an arms dealer. He was handed over to police, according to sources.
